What is Cardio-respiratory fitness? how do you build this kind of fitness?


Cardiorespiratory fitness 

  1. Cardiorespiratory fitness is the thing most of us want when we first start working out.
  2. Cardiorespiratory fitness refers to the capacity of your body to transport and utilize oxygen. (aerobic method)
  3. It is  one of the best predictors of overall health. 
  4. The more aerobically fit you are: 
    1. the better your heart can pump blood 
    2. the longer it takes you to get out of breath, 
    3. and the farther and faster you're able to bike, or run, or swim. 
  5. Cardiorespiratory fitness also happens to be the form of fitness that helps you live longer, 
  6. helps live better by reducing your chance of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes. 

So how do you build this kind of fitness?

  1. Lots of aerobic exercise performed at a moderate pace.
  2. World Health Organization recommends 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity per week to derive health benefits. That's 2.5 hours a week. 
  3.  Research shows you can obtain health benefits in a lot less time, if you're willing to push yourself.
